Can you do courier work in the family car?

Im working full time to keep the family together and the mortgage paid and my husband who was made redundent a few months ago has seen on the internet that you can use a family car to do courier work in delivering laptops and valuable thing is this true? I need him out working but we can’t afford to throw time and money away on things that will never work. He’s a good man and decent and honest and knows his way round the country. I just need to know if its pie in the sky. Thanks Tess.

whether there is any courier work to France Germany etc? ive lived out there with the army and could find my way around and deliver there no problem?

This depends entirely on your own circumstances, and on what you are trying to achieve.
A lot of people ask me if I think it will work if they try to set up part time, at least to start with, to see how it goes before deciding to, for example, leave their current job. Invoicing for courier work

Unless the company you do courier work for operates ”self-billing” (ie they produce your invoice for you and send it to you with your money) you’ll need a simple way of invoicing for the work you do.
You can start with a simple invoice book from a stationer, or just use MS Word or Excel (Google for invoice templates to use), or use a simple online invoicing system as provided by websites like www.mtvan.com. [Note: Tony's Guide is mtvan's sister website, so we're bound to reccommend it!].

Keeping in touch with the controller (dispatcher).
This is perhaps the most important aspect of doing courier work for a courier company. The controller is the person in the courier company office who hands the work out to the couriers. Keep the controller aware of your progress so that he/she can in turn keep the customer aware. It will increase your earnings, as when there’s a job nearby you’ll have a better chance of being offered it.
If you are having difficulty locating a pick-up or delivery address, let the controller know, and he/she will be able to advise the customer if necessary, and also...
